Here’s a great recipe that is easy to make and perfect for 4th of July BBQs and potlucks. Yes, the recipe is a traditional British dessert, but when better to devour English food than when celebrating our independence from them?

Red, White and Blue Trifle:

1 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon sugar

Beat in a chilled bowl until heavy peaks are formed. Set aside.

Aren't Fresh Berries the Best. Yum!

Fruit Mixture:

2 quarts strawberries
3 tablespoons amaretto
3 tablespoons sugar

Slice strawberries add amaretto and sugar, set aside

1 1/2 pounds blueberries
3 tablespoons amaretto
3 tablespoons sugar

Mix together and set aside.

Filling:
2 -8oz cream cheese
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup sour cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Beat together until smooth, add whipped cream. Mix well.

1 angel food cake

Crumble cake into the the cream cheese/cream mixture and mix well.

Layer Dessert starting with strawberries, cake mixture, blueberries, cake mixture, strawberries. Chill for a few hours.

This is not a dessert that can be made too far in advance because it gets mushy. It’s still delish, but not as pretty.

Beautiful, Patriotic and Delicious.
